Volunteers Have More Fun!
Volunteers are an essential component of each STAR Repertory Theatre production!!
A typical STAR Rep show includes a total of 2,500 + hours of volunteer time divided among the STAR Rep's production staff, crew, and families of all the cast members. It's a fun experience, and very rewarding! So join in the FUN today!
What are the basic volunteer duties?
Every family is invited to share in the supervision of children at the performance theater, move-in and strike of sets; and costume dressing of performers if needed. Rehearsal supervision involves attending a rehearsal to oversee students to keep noise levels down, and ensure safety of students waiting for rides after rehearsals
"Move-in" and "Strike" involves working with other parents and volunteers. Loading/unloading stage set pieces into and out of the performance theater
What are the elective volunteer jobs?
Parents, working under the guidance of a volunteer parent coordinator and our professional staff, may take on the following jobs: backstage, technical & "house"
Backstage Supervision:
Assist student cast members with noise control and meeting cues on time
Wardrobe:
Assist cast members with quick costume changes backstage, and maintenance of costumes
Props:
Manage prop table and assist prop coordinator
Stage Crew:
Work in the wings to move sets, scenery
Lights/Spotlights:
Operate lighting board, and spotlights for rehearsals/shows
Make up/Hair:
Assist cast members backstage
Costume Construction:
Take measurements, keep records, costume and accessory construction
Prop Construction:
Create/gather required props
Set Construction:
Build set pieces/backdrops for play
Concessions:
Provide goods for refreshment sales, work the concession stand
Box Office:
Ticket receipt/sales, passing programs out
Program Playbill/Posters:
Layout of ads/coordinate ad sales
