STAR Rep Executive Committee

Scott Kolod
Aristic Director / Founder

Life can flash by so quickly. How can it be denied that one should live every possible moment being happy and having FUN? For those who get the bug…and there are many out there…theater is a blast. Rehearsing is FUN, but audience feedback is out of this world!! Scott Kolod has lived his life with this philosophy ever since he started off acting in New York in Flower Drum Song in the early Sixties. He has continuously performed, written, directed and produced musical performances until today. Along the way, he received his Bachelors of Science in Education from Indiana University, and his Doctorate from University of San Diego. It is that wealth of experience combined with the academic foundation that Scott passes on to his students. But, to really show him how kids have FUN, he has learned from his own five children. Together they have developed countless games, and even more stories and play-plots. Scott has produced two original musicals in which he wrote all of the music, lyrics and dialogue. They both received positive critical periodical review, though neither is headed to Broadway. Maybe his next one "Charter Valley" will be the break through. FUN, LEARNING AND PRIDE!

Meredith Kolod
Producer / Founder

Meredith's background is in the area of business finance and office administration.  She has worked as a financial manager and office manager at some of the most prestigious law firms in San Diego.  She played classical violin for 15 years, and was a member of the San Diego Youth Symphony.  Her love for theatre grew in high school.  She was always interested in being behind the scenes, eschewing the limelight of performing on stage.  She continues that love to this day.  She is the business and organizational genius behind STAR Rep, and though you might not see her in the shadows, STAR Rep is truly her vision and creation!

Megan Makenzie Kolod
Youth Coordinator/Founder

Megan is 23, and graduated with Honors with her BFA in Musical Theatre/Performing Arts from AMDA (American Musical & Dramatic Academy) in New York/Los Angeles! Her love of musical theatre started when she was 4!  She has been in over 60 musical productions in the last 18 years! She is the heart and soul of STAR Repertory Theatre!  Without her love of Musical Theatre there would never have been a STAR Rep!  Some of her favorite roles include: Eva (Bring It On); Natalie (Next to Normal); Ariel (Little Mermaid); Elle (Legally Blonde); Sandy (Grease); Natalie and Lorraine (All Shook Up); Belle (Beauty and the Beast); Dorothy (Wizard of Oz); Cat (Seussical); Ghost of Christmas Past (A Christmas Carol); Patrice (13); Gingy (Shrek the Musical); Little Red (Into the Woods); Wednesday (Addams Family); Penny (Hairspray).

Megan was awarded the 2019-2020 National Youth Arts College Award for her role as Natalie in Next to Normal!  She has also won 5 additional National Youth Arts Awards, including Artist of the Year, and has received several NYA nominations in acting and choreography!

Megan is currently an entertainment performer at Legoland California.  Megan also worked at Disney World in Florida in Entertainment as a Performer from 2022/2023.  During her tenor at Disney World, Megan had the honor to sing in the Disney Candlelight Choir at Epcot (The American Pavilion) this past December with Neil Patrick Harris (Narrator). She is hoping that these opportunities with Legoland and Disney will fulfill her dream of performing for the Disney Cruise Line!

Megan has been dancing since she was 2 1/2, and has taken acting and vocal lessons since she was 5.  Megan is excited to see the students of STAR Rep grow, and hopes to continue to share with them, and everyone who walks through the doors at STAR Rep, her undying love of musical theatre!
