Life can flash by so quickly. How can it be denied that one should live every possible moment being happy and having FUN? For those who get the bug…and there are many out there…theater is a blast. Rehearsing is FUN, but audience feedback is out of this world!! Scott Kolod has lived his life with this philosophy ever since he started off acting in New York in Flower Drum Song in the early Sixties. He has continuously performed, written, directed and produced musical performances until today. Along the way, he received his Bachelors of Science in Education from Indiana University, and his Doctorate from University of San Diego. It is that wealth of experience combined with the academic foundation that Scott passes on to his students. But, to really show him how kids have FUN, he has learned from his own five children. Together they have developed countless games, and even more stories and play-plots. Scott has produced two original musicals in which he wrote all of the music, lyrics and dialogue. They both received positive critical periodical review, though neither is headed to Broadway. Maybe his next one "Charter Valley" will be the break through. FUN, LEARNING AND PRIDE!

Ryan is honored to be one the Youth Directors for STAR Repertory Theatre. Before joining STAR Rep, Ryan was last seen in San Diego State’s production of The Me Nobody Knows in 1997. It wasn’t until 2012 when he was urged to audition for STAR Rep's production of Into the Woods that his love of performance and theatre was rekindled. Since then he has sung as member of the Modern Glee Club of San Diego and with the chorus for Broadway Rocks! with the San Diego Symphony. He performed in the choral ensemble for the American Premiere of Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame at the La Jolla Playhouse. During his 15-year hiatus from performing, he obtained a Master of Education in College Student Affairs as well as a Masters in Counseling Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy. Ryan is equally happy when he’s onstage performing, and when he’s sitting in an office, and classroom teaching college students and counseling clients. He absolutely loves working with the talented children in STAR Rep’s youth productions.

Amy is a military transplant to San Diego County, and loving it! In high school, she was always fascinated with the behind-the-scenes workings of plays and musicals, and after years of marriage and family keeping her away from the theater life, she is so happy to be a volunteer at STAR Rep making props! Her first experience with STAR Rep was the 2015 Addams Family production, where she can now say she had NO idea what she was doing. After moving overseas for 2 years, she came back and decided to help out again in order to spend time with her teenage daughter, Chloe. Little did she know her effort to bond with one family member would reward her with a whole new giant, crazy, hilarious and talented STAR Rep Family! She loves the satisfaction of wow-ing cast members with special hand-made props, but her favorite part of her work is the gags and pranks she gets to send onstage. Her love to add a laugh to each production: silly pictures in a locket for ‘Oliver,’ a different list of TV characters posted each night during ‘Legally Blonde,’ “Minions” mixed with chicks during ‘Wizard of Oz,’ and quotes from the movie Elf on little slips of paper during ‘Annie, Jr.’ You never know what you’re going to get when you take a prop from her table!
